ohTwentyone is pleased to announce the launch of www.AlliedCompliance.com, the website of Allied Compliance Services, Inc; a DOT compliance/drug and alcohol testing based in Lubbock, TX with offices in  Lubbock and Hurst, TX.

Allied performs drug and alcohol testing for companies who are required to maintain DOT compliance records for drivers and equipment operators, as well as the expanding market of companies who are not required to maintain compliance information but screen for alcohol and drugs for insurance or retention purposes, and the emerging necessity of testing student athletes for steroids, illicit drugs, and alcohol.

Aesthetic Notes

The most interesting aesthetic feature of the site is the stationary background and footer which always places the horizon of the background image at the bottom 20% of the page. The image is divided to accommodate the exaggerated horizontal nature of the footer and the less exaggerated nature of the top. Both images fade to white to allow for large monitors, and the proportions of each section adapt based on the size of the window it's being viewed on.

The desired effect is that users never realize that the site wasn't specifically designed for their monitor and as you scroll the content, the footer and background remain stationary as the content scrolls.

Technical Notes

To overcome the dynamic scaling of the design we used a little javascript to measure the computed height of the footer and add that number of pixels to the "padding-bottom" style of the page's content.

We also utilized an alternate "non-compliant" style sheet in order to accommodate Internet Explorer 6 and other browsers that don't implement the "position:fixed" style correctly. On browsers that do not implement "position:fixed" the footer and background are positioned at the bottom of the page so that the users scrolls down into the background image.
