The American College of Emergency Physicians asked us to take a stab at designing the new template for their chapter sites, and we were glad to do it. In the past the chapters have been largely left to make their own decision regarding the aesthetics of their site (which, through our research, we've found is the case with a good many national non-profit groups that have state and local chapters) even though ACEP has hosted the sites and maintained the Content Management System for the sites.

The goal for the redesign was to make the sites simple to customize for each chapter by changing a couple of graphics, and create an easy to use framework that will stay clean and nice while being edited by non-technical staff through the use of Cascading Style Sheets and a very flexible, grid-based layout system.

We also took the opportunity to work in some modernism through the use of modern (and we do mean modern, not contemporary) typefaces and smooth, clean lines with lots of negative space.

We also decided to use contemporary javascript techniques to hide away usually interface-cluttering features like search and login forms.

All in all, it yields a clean new look that we hope serves the chapters of ACEP well into the future.
